Blog Assignment #19-Tony Curtis/Pictures

Blog Assaignment #19-Tony Curtis

Tony Curtis was truly an amazing actor! His childhood was very hard. He says that, "I was always taunted for being young, Jewish, and handsome." He was always defending himself on whichever street his parents decided to move to. I would say that he had a life full of struggles.

At the young age of 17, Tony Curtis decided to join the Navy. He fought in Pacific during WW2. After he left the Navy, he felt there was a special calling on his life. He decided to use his GI Bill to take acting classes at the Dramatic Workshop of the New School for Social Research in Manhattan. From there, he became a very skilled actor.

Curtis later changed his name to Anthony Curtis, and became known as "Tony" Curtis. After moving to Hollywood, he became like, the "king" of Hollywood. He was in over 100 movies in his life! He was in "The Great Impostor" and the 1960s version of "Spartacus". Reporters say that Tony always wanted to be in movies. He made $2.5 million on "Some Like It Hot" alone!!

He was said to have been married SIX times. The last wife he married was Janet Leigh in 1951. They were married for 11 years. One of their children, Jamie Lyn Curtis, followed in her dad's footsteps. She later became a famous actress. One of my favorite movies she was in was Freaky Friday. :))

In conclusion, Tony Curtis was a great actor. I know that he will be missed by many people. The movies he was in were phenomenal! I hope his children (how ever many he had) can get over his death easily. Good Bye Tony Curtis. You will truly be missed by many!

Blog Assignment #15-African Storytelling

Video 1:         They are using something called a smart pad. It is like a smart board, but you can actually carry it around. It has a little pen that is attached to the notepad with a wire. At the bottom of the page, there is a button that says go on. They click this once they are done with the assignment.

The people who help them learn are truly people sent by God. These poor African people would not be able to have any education if it weren't for these people. The children easily understand this coricullum of learning. Some of the teachers say it is like they have an actual teacher in their pocket! How awesome that they can get a good education too!

Video 2:
Cybersmart is not just providing a good education for these people, they are also helping them physically too. Starting in 2006, they began giving them clothes, food, and even building houses for them. They started teaching them through digital stories. This made the whole community excited about the opprtunity to learn digitally. Once they are done learning, they can go to the relaxing area in the shade and relax.

The children get up in the morning, get food, and the pray. They pray for a long time, then they head off to school. There, they learn by online courses. Each of them have laptops. They also have many textbooks printed in their language.

Video 3:
These schools don't just have a teacher, they have VERY active classrooms. Sense, these kids have never actually been to school before, they have to have many visuals to help them learn. They have posterboards, laptops, pictures, etc. Their goal is to not just have any ordiary school. They want to make every school in Africa a 21st century school.

What do I mean by 21st century? A school in "the now". A shool all the kids will want to got too. Not just because it's "cool",but because of the great education. Some of their education is better than some of the schools in America. Talk about COOL!! :)

Blog Assignment #14-Media

The media makes me SOOO mad!! 1 situation is, Leonardo DiCaprio and his friends were all eating at a restaurant. One of his friends got up to leave. Before, she left, she didn't give Leonardo DiCaprio a hug. Now, the media wants to know if he's just another regular person! So what if she didn't give him a hug goodbye! He is still a great actor, and doesn't need the media invading his privacy!

Another situation is Orlando Bloom. He is a young man who decided to settle down, get married, and have a family. Sense he decided to do that, he is going to have to pay! The media has constantly been harassing him about his new life. I say, the media needs to stay out of people's personal lives, and get lives of their own!

Everyone keeps going on and on about what happened to Taylor Swift at the VMAs. Well, the media should stop reporting on it. Yes, we all know Kanye Wess was being mean for doing that to Taylor Swift, but what happened happened. Let it go!! This happened a little over a year ago! Just learn from your mistakes and move on.

Kate Winslet is a pretty actress who, in her defense, acts pretty good. Everyone is on her back about, "Who is Kate Winslet dating?" "Is she dating (insert name here)?" The truth be told, NO ONE CARES!! In a few years, we'll all look back on this and think it was stupid! The media needs to let people live their own lives.

I think we do live in a media frenzied world. Everyone has their own life to live. So, let them! Many people rely on the media to give them news updates on the new celebs. I say, always trust in God. He will tell you everything you need to know, so that you won't have to rely on the media.

PS. Whenever people listen to the media, it always leads to gossip. Gossip is one of the main sins GOD tells us not to do!!!

Blog Assignment #13-Decleration of Independance

1. The core values are incorporated into American democracy by saying:
  • All men are created equal
  • We will not be ruled under a tyrant
  • We will have the pursuit of happiness
America is GREAT!

2. The government can't just come in and do whatever they want! They have to respect these laws. For law #2, thyey can't come in, say, "Alright guys, here's your new leader. By the way, he will be a TYRANT." They can't do that. We the people also need to honor these laws. We can't think we are better than someone. God made us all equal, and that's the way we need to see it too.

3. These core values might help the freedom of press by, well, saying that we can do it. We are not ruled under tyranny, so we have the freedom to do pretty much anything we want. Not everything we want, but most of what we want.

4. These laws allow us to listen to the news. In other countries, they don't let you do that. They don't want you to know what is going on in the country. Other countries don't have all these laws that actually say what the leaders can and can't do. Again I say, America is GREAT!!! :)

5. Producers who distribute news need to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth, so help them God! We have no way of knoing the news. That's why they need to report the truth whenever they report the news. Otherwise, we might think something completely opposite of what is actually the truth. Then we could make decisions that ruin the whole country!!

She was excecuted at the age of 37 by guillitine. Her last words were, "Pardon me sir, I meant not to do it," after she accidentally stepped on her executioner's foot.

Blog Assignment #9- Teen Challenge USA

Who: Troubled teens
What: Teen Challenge USA
When: All year
Where: United States and Puerto Rico
Why: To help troubled teens who need Christ
How: They send missionaries to Puerto Rico and other states in the US to help the teens

The Teen Challenge USA is a group of missionaries who are very concerned with the teens in our society. About every 30 seconds, a teen somewhere around the world commits suicide. They usually do this because of depression, alcohol, drugs, and even relationships. The Teen Challenge USA is there to help this poor teens. They provide them with the Word of God.

Teen Challenge USA helps this people become mentally-sound, emotionally balanced, socially-adjusted, physically-well, and spiritually-alive. They provide them with Bibles, and other Biblical things to help strengthen them in their walk with God. They are not a rehabilitation center, but they are sometimes used as one. They help people get off of drugs, and other things. Such as alcohol.

Teen Challenge USA also does a 24 hour fund raiser type thing. They sit at computers and people call in to send them money to help them. Another thing they do is Global Internships. People from ALL across the world come become an intern to help the TCUSA with helping the many different people who need God. They are truly devoted to God and helping others.

They can be contacted in many ways. If you would like to become an intern there, contact them at info@agfinancial.org. If you can't reach them at their email, you can also try calling them at (417) 831-4776. The interns will have to go through either a 2 week training program or a 2 1/2 month program. They will also be required to go over seas.

In conclusion, Teen Challenge USA (TCUSA) is a great foundation. They learn to put their desires aside and worry more about others. If all these people who are committing suicide didn't, our world would have so many more people in it. Which means there would be a more bigger number of Christians. I would like to be able to do what these people do! :))

 4.  International Freedom to Publish Orginazation
  • Hrant Dink, a Turk of American ancestry, was shot outside the offices of his newspaper in Istinbal. He was viewed as a strong voice promoting American-Turkish dialogue. He helped the Turkish people who had been prosecuted about what they put in their newspapers. Someone decided to put an end to him.
